Each year on the account anniversary, cardmembers will be automatically evaluated for an upgrade to the Chase Freedom Unlimited card. Criteria for upgrade include purchase history within the last 12 months, on time payments to all financial lenders in the past 12 months, and not having an existing Freedom Unlimited account.
